Master shredder Herman Li was born in Hong Kong and now lives in London,
England. He is the guitarist, songwriter and producer of the Grammy
nominated metal act DragonForce.
DragonForce hit the international scene in 2006 with release of the record ‘Inhuman Rampage the hit single, ‘Through the Fire and Flames’ featured in ‘Guitar Hero III – Legends of Rock.’ The band continue to go from strength to strength, 2008 saw the release of ‘Ultra Beatdown’, which entered the Top 20 national album charts in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Taiwan, Singapore and soared into the Top 10 in Japan.
Over the past six years Li has become one of the most respected guitarists on the scene. Racking up a host of awards and nominations including the 2005 and 2009 ‘Best Shredder’ award at the annual Metal Hammer Golden Gods, Guitar World’s 2007 Readers Poll for ‘Best New Talent’, ‘Best Metal’, ‘Best Riff’ and ‘Best Shredders’ and ‘Best Guitar Solo’ for ‘Through the Fire and Flames’ in Total Guitar’s Readers Poll in 2007. Li has also played alongside numerous legends of guitar such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert
Outside of DragonForce, Li writes a monthly guitar column in UK’s Total Guitar magazine and is consistently involved in guitar clinics around the world. He spent three years working on ideas to bring the most out of a guitar as possible with the end result being his Ibanez E-Gen guitar, signature model.
